I'm an advocate for Gimp. It's the best free alternative to photoshop that's a huge amount of money. I'm actually refusing photoshop for the reason that I want to prove Gimp is just as good. Hn. Gimme a sec and I'll see if I can find a tutorial on DA somewhere.... Gimpness That doesn't really explain the in's and outs but it should be a great motivator. If you just play around with it a little it should come to you slowly. The only downside to gimp is that it's not as user friendly as photoshop and you really have to experiment with stuff. What exactly is giving you problems?

ahhh...well thats good,I can't seem to figure it out,not that i've really had time...it almost seems like one of those games(like Zelda)that i cant seem to figure out a sertian room...nothing really makes sense cuz its not working for me,arrrhhg,I soo wanted to use it!I allways do my work on MSP,so,friends say I should use a better program,I apretiat the comments I get,the nice things they say,I just want to be able to perform better,but it seems that I have no choice but to spend a grand on a good program,then figure out how to use it...uhhh,i feel so terable...

I haven't updated mine since I got it so I wasn't sure if you were using a newer version or not xD I heard a rumor there was going to be a "release" of a newer version but have yet to really see it.

^{xD alright, to draw a line - I'm guessing you've already created a new 'untitled' canvas (if not: File>new ) . Gimp doesn't automatically ask you to open one so you have to do that step manually. It also default sets your mouse/tablet to "paintbrush" instead of something smoother. To draw a line you can click on the main window and use "pen" which looks like the nib of a pen. You should be able to draw a line with that. To open the settings for that, just double click the "pen" in the main dialog box (i don't use him much as he's a bit out of control). Any settings for any of the tools can be changed by just double clicking on their picture. You have to piddle around to find your personal settings. As for brushes/brush size - it should show your active brush in the main dialog box - double click and that opens the other brushes and you can pick what size you want if you want it fuzzy etc.
btw: what version do you have? And a helpful hint: Most photoshop tutorials can easily be understood by Gimp-ers. Once you familiarize yourself with the tools it almost flows seemlessly.}
